Central Texas Baseball
Central Texas baseball has become the hot bed for baseball in Texas. Obviously, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and the South Texas area are loaded with all kinds of talent but you do not have to go far from Central Texas to find great baseball. Just look at how great the Round Rock Express has done over the years. I can remember working for them on the grounds crew in the early part of 2000. They had some great talent that you see in the show right now. The Express have also led the Minor leagues in attendance, I think, forever. Between little league, high school, and college, the talent level is amongst the best in the nation, not to mention the popularity amongst fans in the area.
The University of Texas is a contender for the National Championship every year, it seems that a local high school team is always in the State baseball title hunt, and some little league team from the area is playing in the road for Williamsport. We have a lot of great high school talent that gets drafted in the Major League Baseball draft every summer and we seem to see more and more local talent on TV playing for play-off teams. For a state that is known for football, baseball is and always has been one of the sports that Texas is known for. Football overshadows baseball in Texas with UT being so good and players from Texas going to so many Division 1 teams that are great, that baseball gets put on the back burner some times. We always need to remember that Texas is filled with great baseball talent and especially here in Central Texas. Whether you are going out to see a little league game or a local high school game, you are sure to see a player or 3 that will make it big in college or in the pros.
Again, in 2009, we have a great line up for baseball here in Central Texas. From the University of Texas, to the Round Rock Express, you do not have to go far to watch talented and advanced baseball players do their thing. If you are more into high school or little league, Central Texas has what you are looking for as well in great baseball. You do not have to go far from home to catch some really good baseball, no matter what the level of play.
